
NATIONAL YOUTH DAY CELEBRATION – NRMU

The National Railway Mazdoor Union (NRMU) organized National Youth Day on 12th January 2026, commemorating the birth anniversaries of Swami Vivekanand and Rajmata Jijau, at Dadar Institute Hall, commencing from 03:30 PM onwards.

The programme was hosted by Comrade Kavi Kiran Patil. The event began with a warm and spirited welcome of General Secretary Comrade Venu P. Nair, marked by enthusiastic sloganeering and loud applause from the youth comrades.

The General Secretary, along with the present Headquarters and Divisional office bearers, paid floral tributes by garlanding the portraits of Swami Vivekanand and Rajmata Jijau, paying homage to their enduring legacy.

During his address, Comrade Venu P. Nair expressed profound grief over the untimely demise of our beloved comrade, Comrade Manish Lokhande, who passed away on 11th January 2026. A Shradhanjali was offered, floral tributes were paid to his photograph, and the gathering observed two minutes of silence in his solemn remembrance.

Thereafter, the General Secretary was felicitated with a flower bouquet by Comrade Harsha Shelke (Zonal Youth Convenor) and Comrade Vikram Mhatre (Zonal Youth Co-Convenor). The Headquarters and Divisional office bearers were also felicitated by the youth team.

The youth-centric session featured inspiring addresses by Comrade Kavi Kiran Patil, Comrade Mahendra Prasad, and Comrade Govind Verma, who emphasized the role, responsibilities, and collective voice of youth comrades on the occasion of National Yuva Day. Comrade Vikram Mhatre and Comrade Harsha Shelke also shared valuable insights on strengthening the youth organizational structure within NRMU.

In his concluding address, the General Secretary once again conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the family of Comrade Manish Lokhande, sharing his personal sense of loss at the passing of a committed comrade. He highlighted the importance of life, personal and family safety, and also explained the benefits of the ECC Society for youth comrades. He further announced the formation of the Mumbai Division and Workshop Youth Committee, which was received with great enthusiasm by the youth members.

The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks by Comrade Pushkar Patil, Division President. The programme ended with a group photograph of the youth team along with the General Secretary, marking a meaningful and inspiring celebration.
