The historic observance of the 52nd Remembrance Day of the Great 1974 Railway Strike organised by NRMU (CR/KR) on 8th May 2026 in front of DRM office Mumbai turned into a massive and inspiring show of unity, determination and trade union strength with the participation of more than ten thousand railway workers from different divisions and units of C.Rly & KRCL
The programme was graciously attended by GS/AIRF Com. Shivagopal Mishra, ITF Dy. Director Asia Pacific region Com. Abdul Ghani, AIRF National Women’s Wing Chairperson Com. Praveena Singh, ITF Youth Coordinator Com. Divya Sharma, and was chaired by President NRMU (CR/KR) Com. Kamakshi Bagalwadikar, under the dynamic leadership of GS/NRMU (CR/KR) Com. Venu P Nair.
NRMU (CR/KR) wholeheartedly compliments and conveys revolutionary greetings to all member comrades whose disciplined, enthusiastic and overwhelming participation made this programme a grand historic success. The continuous slogan shouting in support of the Union, AIRF and its leadership reflected the fighting spirit and confidence of the railway workers.
Through his powerful address, Com. Venu P Nair called upon the workers to prepare for a decisive struggle against the anti-worker policies and for the fulfillment of long pending demands including speedy finalisation of CRC, implementation of 8th CPC, filling up of vacancies, creation of additional posts, stopping outsourcing and resisting privatisation attempts aimed at weakening Indian Railways.
During the inspiring speech of GS/AIRF Com. Shivagopal Mishra, he spoke at length about the progress of the CRC meetings, 8th CPC and the demands placed by the JCM & Federation before both constituted committees. The address of other leaders further strengthened the confidence and determination of the workers towards the united struggles ahead.
After the programme, a delegation led by GS/AIRF and GS/NRMU met General Manager Central Railway Shri Rajeev Shrivastava and submitted a memorandum highlighting important issues including that of the filling up of the huge number of vacancies , creation of posts pending for administrative approval and demanded his immediate attention to adress them at the earliest possible.
