A SIGNIFICANT MEETING FOR THE FUTURE OF KONKAN RAILWAY

1st October 2026 will remain a memorable day for NRMU and the Konkan Railway fraternity.

Today, our respected GS NRMU, Com. Venu P. Nair Ji, had the privilege of meeting the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Goa, Shri Pramod Sawant Ji, at his Special Official Room in Panaji.

The meeting was not merely a courtesy interaction—it was an important opportunity to place before the Hon’ble Chief Minister a significant issue concerning the future, development and administrative strengthening of Konkan Railway.

Com. Venu P. Nair Ji extended his warm greetings to the Hon’ble Chief Minister with a traditional shawl and a bouquet of roses, and thereafter submitted a detailed memorandum seeking the merger of Konkan Railway with Indian Railways and its establishment as the proposed 19th Railway Zone, with Headquarters at Madgaon.

This long-standing demand is closely connected with the aspirations of the railway employees and the people of the entire Konkan region. A dedicated Railway Zone headquartered at Madgaon has been placed before the authorities as a proposal aimed at strengthening administration, development, connectivity and the overall railway system in the region.

During the meeting, the Hon’ble Chief Minister expressed a positive response to the matter and, as conveyed during the interaction, assured Com. Venu P. Nair Ji that the issue would be taken up with the Hon’ble Minister for Railways on priority.

The meeting reflects the NRMU’s continued commitment to raising important issues concerning Konkan Railway, its employees and the wider interests of the region at every appropriate forum.

From the workplace to the highest levels of representation, NRMU remains committed to carrying the voice of its comrades with determination, dignity and unity.

Today’s meeting has added another important chapter to the continuing efforts for the future of Konkan Railway.

The struggle continues. The voice of the comrades will continue to reach every appropriate forum.
