The distinguished delegation also visited the headquarters of the Central Railway Employees’ Co-operative Credit Society Ltd. at Byculla, where the President, Vice-President, Chief Manager, other managers and staff extended a cordial welcome.

During the interaction, Com. Venu P. Nair, General Secretary, NRMU (CR/KR), highlighted the Society’s remarkable journey since its establishment in 1913 by Sir Lawless Hepper, Kt., an agent of the GIP Railway. He explained the Society’s employee-friendly financial schemes, shareholder benefits and welfare-oriented initiatives that have contributed to its longstanding reputation.

In a particularly significant gesture, Com. Venu P. Nair requested the visiting dignitaries to assist in tracing the family lineage of the Society’s founder, enabling the organisation to express its gratitude and extend due honour to his descendants.

From its historic beginnings, the Society has grown into a prominent inter-state co-operative credit institution, guided by its commitment to employee welfare and strategic management under its elected Board of Directors led by NRMU (CR/KR).

The visit provided a valuable opportunity for direct interaction, exchange of ideas and strengthening bonds between the international labour movement and the railway co-operative sector. The warm reception and meaningful discussions at both venues reflected the enduring values of solidarity, service and mutual respect.

A Century-Old Legacy of Service. A Shared Vision for Workers’ Welfare. Stronger Bonds of International Solidarity!
